To be accepted on the two-year fast track A Level or BTEC programme students must have at least 5 GCSE’s graded 5-9 or equivalent qualifications. For A Levels This must include a grade 6 or above in the subject you plan to study.
A-Level Economics aims to provide you with an understanding of the economic and social environment.
Through studying this course you will develop an understanding of a range of concepts and learn how to apply them in different contexts.
You will learn to think like an economist, using an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach in your study. You will also develop skills, qualities and attitudes which will prepare you for work.
Year 1 & 2
Paper 1 – Microeconomics – Firms. For example, different types of efficiencies.
Paper 2 – Macroeconomics – The national and international economy. For example, the advantages and disadvantages to economic growth.
Paper 3 – Synoptic combining both micro economics and macro economics.
Successfully completing this course will give you access to a degree course e.g a Degree in Finance and lead towards a career in Accounting, Engineering, Consultancy, Finacial Media, Alternatively, an apprenticeship in related industries. It is also very useful for setting up your own business.
